Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the Grammar Check app for iOS ("Grammar Check", "the app", "we") handles information. Grammar Check is published by an individual developer ("the developer"). By using the app you agree to the practices described here.
In short: Grammar Check does not require an account and does not sell your data. To correct or translate your writing, the text (or photo of text) you submit is sent to our server and to Anthropic, and the result is returned to the app. The app also includes third-party software that collects limited technical, usage and purchase information, described below.
1. Information we collect
Text and photos you submit
- Text. When you check or translate text, it is sent over an encrypted connection to our server (hosted on Cloudflare) and from there to Anthropic, which generates the correction or translation. We do not store the text on our server after returning the result.
- Photos. If you choose to check text in a photo taken with the camera or picked from your library, the photo is resized, uploaded to Google Firebase Storage and sent to Anthropic to read and correct the text. Uploaded photos are linked to a random device identifier, not to your name. Do not upload photos containing sensitive personal information.
Please avoid submitting sensitive personal information, such as passwords, financial details or health information.
Device and usage records
The app stores a small record in Google Firebase (Firestore) keyed by a device identifier generated by the app. It holds app state such as your free-use count and whether you have been asked for a review.
Information collected automatically by third-party software
Grammar Check includes third-party software development kits (SDKs). When you use the app, these SDKs may collect:
- Device identifiers such as a randomly generated installation ID, the identifier for vendor (IDFV) and similar technical identifiers. The app does not request or collect the advertiser ID (IDFA).
- Device and app information such as device model, operating system version, app version, language, region, time zone and approximate location derived from your IP address.
- App usage events such as which screens are opened, which features are used, session length and interaction with the in-app paywall.
- Purchase events such as when a subscription is started, renewed, cancelled or restored, the product purchased and the price. Payment details are handled by Apple and are never visible to us.
Information you send us
If you contact support by email, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
Information we do not collect
Grammar Check does not require you to create an account and does not collect your name, email address (unless you contact us), precise location, contacts or health data. Text-to-speech playback runs on your device.
2. How we use information
- To correct or translate the text and photos you submit and deliver features you request.
- To understand how the app is used so we can improve it.
- To display the in-app paywall and confirm your subscription status.
- To respond to support requests.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for purposes unrelated to the app.
3. Third-party services
The following third-party services receive the information described above. Each processes it under its own privacy policy.
- Anthropic (Claude; generates corrections and translations from the text and photos you submit). Anthropic Privacy Policy. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, data sent through the API is not used to train its models.
- Cloudflare (hosts the server that forwards your requests). Cloudflare Privacy Policy
- Google Firebase (Analytics for usage events, Firestore for app state, Storage for uploaded photos, Remote Config for app settings). Firebase Privacy and Security
- RevenueCat (subscription and purchase state). RevenueCat Privacy Policy
- Apple StoreKit (in-app purchases and subscriptions). Apple Privacy Policy
These providers may store data on servers outside your country of residence. We do not share information with any other third parties except where required by law.
4. Data retention
Text you submit is processed to return your result and is not kept on our server afterwards. Uploaded photos are kept in Firebase Storage until you ask us to delete them. Anthropic may retain API inputs for a limited period for safety and abuse monitoring under its own policy. Analytics and purchase data is retained by the third-party services for the periods set out in their policies, after which it is deleted or aggregated. Support emails are kept for as long as needed to resolve your request.
5. Children
Grammar Check is not directed at children under 13 years of age (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal information, to object to processing, and to data portability.
To request deletion of uploaded photos or other data associated with your device, or to exercise any other right, email us at zeynepelcinural@gmail.com. We will respond within a reasonable time and may ask for information needed to identify the relevant data.
You can also limit tracking through Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on your device.
7. Security
Information sent from the app is transmitted over encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
9. Contact
Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to zeynepelcinural@gmail.com.
